Library Committee

The Library Committee of First UU welcomes additional committee members. Time commitments are flexible. We need volunteers to assist with reshelving books, setting books as borrowed, maintaining the catalog, fund-raising for and acquisition of new materials, establishing library policies, and more.

Borrowing Policies

Materials can be borrowed for a period of 3 weeks with the option to renew for an additional 3 weeks. Borrowing records will be maintained via Gurulib until LibraryThing adds a circulation tracking capability. Gurulib sends e-mail messages automatically to let the person know that we show they have borrowed a book and to remind them of the due date. Since the due dates are computed automatically according to the day that they are entered, the reminder might be off by a few days. If the members of the committee are unable to enter the borrowed books on a weekly basis, the borrowing period may be changed to more accurately reflect the remaining borrrowing period.

Form for the Library Register to track borrowing.

When donating books, we welcome the donor(s) to write a note inside the cover to indicate how the book fits the above criteria and the donor’s name(s), if desired. Donated material not added to the library will be sold to benefit of the library or donated to other organizations that might use them.
