Brent Baldwyn


Brent Baldwin is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and conductor, and we are fortunate to have him as the First UU Director of Music and First UU Adult Choir conductor since 1999. He holds a Master’s degree in choral conducting from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was assistant conductor for the Early Music Ensemble, New Music Ensemble, Longhorn Singers, Concert Chorale, and the Chamber Singers. Brent serves as the Artistic Director of the Texas Choral Consort and has performed with the Grammy-nominated Conspirare Chamber Choir and as pianist for the Austin New Music Co-op. An accomplished guitarist, Brent took first place in the New England division of the Downeast Classical Guitar Competition and was a finalist in the Music Teachers’ National Association national guitar competition. As a conductor, he has directed more than a dozen world premieres. Brent has toured Europe as keyboardist for roots-reggae luminaries Laurel Aitken and Doreen Shaffer and plays guitar with local indie rockers Black Before Red and The Normans. In 2011, he toured Uruguay and Argentina as guest conductor for the Bel Canto Chorus of Milwaukee. Email:



Chris Larsen


Christopher Larsen, Assistant Director of Music, has been singing/playing for the church since 2012. A native of Iowa, Chris Larsen is a conductor, singer, and educator. Chris has taught high school programs in Iowa, Minnesota, and Ohio, and has nine years’ worth of great memories and former students. As a singer, Chris has performed with Conspirare, Opera Colorado, Vocal Arts Ensemble of Cincinnati, Mount Pleasant Community Chorus, UT’s New Music Ensemble, and Texas Choral Consort. Chris holds graduate degrees in conducting from The University of Texas at Austin and the University of Arizona, as well as a degree in music education from Wartburg College. With Andrea and Julian, he is proud to call Austin his adopted home.
