I am so glad that your spiritual path has brought you to First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Here at the church, we are dedicated to a free and responsible search for truth meaning and beauty and to encouraging one another toward spiritual growth.<\/p>\n

\u00a0We draw from all the world\u2019s faith traditions and wisdom sources, science, earth-centered traditions, our experiences of transcendence and prophetic voices from throughout the ages.<\/p>\n

\u00a0We are committed to being in right relationship with one another and our world, walking together in the ways of love in accordance with our covenant (set of promises we make to one another) of right relations.<\/p>\n

\u00a0We are a spirited religious community that gather for worship on Sunday mornings to think, feel, sing and experience that which is greater than ourselves together.<\/p>\n

\u00a0We are an LGBTQ welcoming community and are dedicated to dismantling racism and all forms of oppression in ourselves, in our community and in the systemic institutions of our society.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Throughout the week, you will also find opportunities for fun and fellowship with other church participants, spiritual practices, discussion groups, justice making, service and leadership and more.<\/p>\n

Rev. Chris Jimmerson<\/em> is Acting Senior Minister at First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin. Rev. Jimmerson has a strong calling toward anti-oppression, interfaith and social justice work and has been especially involved in immigrant rights and racial justice. He also loves leading worship and the pastoral work of ministry.<\/p>\n

Before becoming a minister, he served for seven years as executive director of American Gateways, a non-profit organization that assists immigrants with their immigration legal needs.<\/p>\n

He holds a BA in psychology from the University of Houston and a Masters of Divinity degree from Meadville Lombard School of Theology.<\/p>\n

He began full-time ministry with First UU Church of Austin in September 2014 and was ordained by the church in February of 2015.<\/p>\n

He lives in Austin with his spouse, Wayne Bockmon, and two extremely spoiled Basenji dogs, named Louisa Mae Alcott and Benjamin Franklin.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
