{"id":137722,"date":"2023-05-19T13:52:18","date_gmt":"2023-05-19T19:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/austinuu.org\/wp2013\/?p=137722"},"modified":"2023-05-19T13:52:59","modified_gmt":"2023-05-19T19:52:59","slug":"drive-a-senior","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/austinuu.org\/wp2013\/drive-a-senior\/","title":{"rendered":"Drive a Senior"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div class=\"gmail_quote\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<div>On <strong>Sunday, June 11th<\/strong>, Jill Skinner, the Executive Director for Drive a Senior ATX, will be joining us to share their mission and impact on the community.<span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">\u00a0Drive a Senior ATX is\u00a0<\/span>a community-based service organization that works to help the seniors in our community age in place by providing transportation and other support services.\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">And while lack of transportation is just one of the challenges facing our aging community, research shows that social isolation and loneliness have a serious impact on older people&#8217;s longevity, their physical and mental health and their quality of life. DASATX successfully addresses these issues through their dedicated and compassionate volunteers and a personalized approach to connecting with their clients through in-home visits, phone calls and social gatherings. Drive a Senior ATX believes everyone should feel a sense of community and belonging.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">DASATX currently serves over 600 clients but there\u00a0are many more who\u00a0can benefit from their services.
