People are often surprised\u00a0that I call Texas home, given its\u00a0notoriously high carbon footprint and its oil and gas dominance.\u00a0<\/strong>It\u2019s true that fossil fuel extraction is\u00a0polluting<\/a><\/strong><\/span> its land and water while climate-fueled\u00a0extremes<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0are devastating its homes and livelihoods. Many of its leaders continue to deny the reality of the climate crisis and even\u00a0actively oppose<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0renewable energy solutions at the same time that they, and some of the oil and gas companies most responsible for the crisis,\u00a0seek federal aid<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0to deal with its impacts.

Yet it\u2019s this very context that\u00a0makes<\/strong>\u00a0Texas the ultimate stage for climate action.<\/strong>\u00a0As I share in this\u00a0Global Weirding episode<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, it\u2019s a place of contrasts and immense potential. Tireless advocacy and bold leadership\u00a0have made<\/strong>\u00a0Texas a clean energy leader.<\/strong>\u00a0It hosts one of the biggest Earth Day festivals in the world and is home to many cities with\u00a0ambitious climate action plans,<\/strong>\u00a0as well.

This is why I\u2019m convinced that, if you steer the Lone Star State towards a greener future, it could spark\u00a0a wave of change worldwide.<\/strong>\u00a0Here\u2019s the latest on what\u2019s going on in this fossil fuel state.<\/div>\n
