The\u00a0Austin Energy Resource, Generation and Climate Protection Plan<\/u>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0a 10-year roadmap for\u00a0proposing to phase out the use of fossil fuels at Austin Energy and replacing them with clean energy\u00a0<\/b>\u2014\u00a0is getting an update.<\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

Alarmingly, Austin Energy\u2019s \u00a0(AE) current proposal recommends a dangerous fossil fuel direction.\u00a0Instead of replacing existing fossil fuel power, Austin Energy is asking the City Council to support adding a more polluting methane gas-burning power plant in \u00a0(probably) East Austin!\u00a0<\/u><\/em><\/u><\/u><\/p>\n

There is an alternative Working Group Plan.\u00a0<\/b><\/em>This plan has no fossil fuels . AE is not cooperating with the\u00a0<\/b><\/i>community for a fossil fuel free future!<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFossil fuel generation causes multiple environmental problems. Burning fossil fuels is very dangerous to vulnerable groups like the very young, the very old and those with respiratory illnesses.\u201d\u00a0\u201cEnergy and the Environment\u201d United Women In Faith<\/u><\/i><\/p>\n
