What do we want our program to look like?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/Rchs1zLekRw?rel=0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr align=\"center\" noshade=\"noshade\" size=\"4\" width=\"300\" \/>\n<p align=\"left\"><b>Call to Worship<\/b><br \/>\n<i>Stephen Sondheim, Into the Woods<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">How do you say to your child in the night?<br \/>\nNothing&#8217;s all black, but then nothing&#8217;s all white<br \/>\nHow do you say it will all be all right<br \/>\nWhen you know that it might not be true?<br \/>\nWhat do you do?<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Careful the things you say<br \/>\nChildren will listen<br \/>\nCareful the things you do<br \/>\nChildren will see and learn<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Children may not obey,<br \/>\nbut children will listen<br \/>\nChildren will look to you for which way to turn<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b>Reading<br \/>\n<\/b><i>by Antoine de Saint-Exupery<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">In a house which becomes a home,<br \/>\none hands down and another takes up<br \/>\nthe heritage of mind and heart,<br \/>\nlaughter and tears, musings and deeds.<br \/>\nLove, like a carefully loaded ship,<br \/>\ncrosses the gulf between the generations.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Therefore, we do not neglect<br \/>\nthe ceremonies of our passage:<br \/>\nwhen we wed, when we die,<br \/>\nand when we are blessed with a child;<br \/>\nWhen we depart and when we return;<br \/>\nWhen we plant and when we harvest.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Let us bring up our children.<br \/>\nIt is not the place of some official<br \/>\nto hand to them their heritage.<br \/>\nIf others impart to our children our knowledge and ideals,<br \/>\nthey will lose all of us that is wordless and full of wonder.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">Let us build memories in our children,<br \/>\nlest they drag out joyless lives,<br \/>\nlest they allow treasures to be lost<br \/>\nbecause they have not been given the keys.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">We live, not by things,<br \/>\nbut by the meanings of things.<br \/>\nIt is needful to transmit the passwords<br \/>\nfrom generation to generation.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><b>Sermon Exerpt<\/b><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><i>-Robert Cole, &#8220;The Child as Pilgram&#8221;<\/i><\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">So it is we connect with one another, move in and out of one another&#8217;s lives, teach and heal and affirm one another, across space and time &#8212; all of us wanderers, explorers, adventurers, stragglers and ramblers, sometimes tramps or vagabonds, even fugitives, but now and then pilgrims: as children, as parents, as old ones about to take that final step, to enter that territory whose character none of us here ever knows. Yet how young we are when we start wondering about it all, the nature of the journey and of the final destination.
