Becoming a member of First Unitarian Universalist Church of Austin

If you have been visiting with us for a while and would like to join the church as a member, the process is fairly simple.

The church periodically offers Path to Membership classes, normally on a Saturday morning where you can learn more about the church, the history of Unitarian Universalism, our expectations of membership and more. You will also get to hear other potential new members share their spiritual journeys and share your own if you wish (though opting out is allowed).

We announce the classes from the pulpit, in our weekly email and on our news page on the website.

You can sign up for the weekly email by clicking here.

Our news page can be found by clicking here.

If for some reason you cannot make a Path to Membership class, you may also schedule a time to meet with one of our ministers. Just contact membership@austinuu.org.

The process for joining involves signing our membership book. We also ask that members make a contribution in an amount that is meaningful and possible for each of them individually. Most members do that in the form of pledge, which lets the church know the amount they plan to contribute in the upcoming year so that the church can better plan for its budget.

Once you have joined, we will offer to put you in communication with our Transformation through Connections and Service Team, who can help you find ways to get involved with the church that are meaningful for you.

We’ll also invite you to participate in a new member recognition and celebration ceremony during a worship service sometime not too long after you have joined.

That’s it!

We are so glad you may be thinking about joining the church and welcome any questions about the process. Feel free to contact membership@austinuu.org for further information.
