Campers and Junior Counselors will be supported by Senior Counselors, volunteers, and professional educators as they explore different activities. Art, nature, movement, games, and social justice & service projects will be woven throughout our days together.

Who is Chalice Camp for?

Chalice Camp is designed for kids entering 1st through entering 6th grades. Your campers will get to be in a small group, each led by a Senior Counselor (9th-12th grade), and supervised by either Religious Education staff or an Adult Volunteer. The campers will be grouped by age, so the curricular content will be age appropriate for each group.

Chalice Camp offers an important leadership development opportunity for youth. High school youth who want more responsibility work as Senior Counselors, leading activities and cultivating safe spaces for children to learn and grow. Middle and High school youth are Junior Counselors and assist with snack, art, and groups.

We aim to be an inclusive community by recognizing that all children come to camp with diverse backgrounds and therefore different needs. If your child is unable to participate in activities in an age-appropriate way, reach out to Kelly to discuss possibilities. If we have enough volunteers, we might be able to accommodate children who need one-on-one support.

What can I expect my camper to learn and do at Chalice Camp?

Our history and identity curriculum moves through four theological statements – it’s a blessing we were born, it matters what we do with our lives, what each of us knows about God is a piece of the truth, and we don’t have to do it alone. Our goal is to highlight kernels of our religious heritage and theological turning points in our history that make us who we are today. We bring alive our history in a fun and engaging way that helps children understand our unique religious perspective. Campers explore and experience UU identity, history, and values through energetic worship, games, drama, art, and community building.

We are using the Chalice Camp Curriculum, developed in the Bay Area.

How can I help with Chalice Camp?

WE NEED ADULT VOLUNTEERS! Discounts are available on your camper’s tuition, and the discount gets greater the more you help! See above on the section labeled “DISCOUNTS”. A room will be available with space to work or relax while your kids are at camp. This is especially helpful for families with a long drive to camp and for volunteers who are helping for part of the day and need to work during the remaining time.
