Brent Baldwin is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and conductor, and we are fortunate to have him as the First UU Director of Music and First UU Adult Choir conductor since 1999. He holds a Master’s degree in choral conducting from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was assistant conductor for the Early Music Ensemble, New Music Ensemble, Longhorn Singers, Concert Chorale, and the Chamber Singers. Brent serves as the Artistic Director of the Panoramic Voices and has performed with the Grammy-nominated Conspirare Chamber Choir and as pianist for the Austin New Music Co-op. An accomplished guitarist, Brent took first place in the New England division of the Downeast Classical Guitar Competition and was a finalist in the Music Teachers’ National Association national guitar competition. As a conductor, he has directed more than a dozen world premieres. Brent has toured Europe as keyboardist for roots-reggae luminaries Laurel Aitken and Doreen Shaffer and plays guitar with local indie rockers Black Before Red and The Normans.
